“Trauma is Trauma."
Wendy Jo Morrison ~ UBU Today Founder

Trauma can be defined as a feeling of helplessness.

This being said, trauma is trauma. Despite the varying degrees of trauma, the fight/fight/freeze process accompanied by the overall feeling of helplessness experienced in trauma is the same.

We believe people don’t have to suffer.

We believe that a healthy, mind, body and spirit is a human right.

Introduction to Biodynamic Breath and Trauma Release acts as a precursor to our 5 day all inclusive workshops. We are offering this shortened 3 hour introduction to provide participants with an opportunity to get a “feel” for the “work”.

BioDynamic Breathwork & Trauma Release System® (BBTRS®) is a new approach to body-oriented therapy. In this workshop you will personally have an opportunity to experience the revolutionary art of integrating deep connected breathing with conscious touch and bodywork, movement and dance, emotional release and meditation.

Our group supports every participant with outmost care and love in releasing the effects of past traumatic experiences and deep core tensions. This profound system is designed to break through the many layers of body armoring, thus releasing mental, emotional and physical tension to the core level. This practice allows the stuck ‘Fight or Flight’ response to be completed creating free flow of previously arrested bio-energy.

This group process is open to everyone who wishes to explore breathwork and themselves more fully. It is a perfect opportunity to deepen self-awareness and experience supporting others on the path to transformation.

The Yamas & Niyamas: A Tool for Moral Imagination and Social Healing

Are you ready to dive deep into your mind and heart? Are you curious about what's beyond the physical practice and want to connect the dots on and off your mat? Join us April 28th and 29th for an immersive and expansive weekend with the author of The Yamas & Niyamas, Deborah Adele!

Cost:

  • $45 per session ($40 early bird if registered by April 1st).
  • $165 for full weekend ($150 early bird)
  • Where Are We Now?
    Saturday 11:30AM-2:00PM
Ancient yogic texts speak about times like this:  times of despair, suffering, fear, anxiety, corruption, and lies.  They also speak to how to live in these times in a way that makes a difference not only in our own lives, but in the lives of others.

In this workshop we will explore these yogic concepts in light of our own experience.

The Yamas:  “Can You Just Stop Making Things Worse then They Are?”
    Saturday 3:00PM-5:30PM
With the events of today, we are encountering a new level of challenge.  It is imperative that we grow ourselves up to meet these challenges.  But how to do this?  The yamas, when understood as a conversation with our life in the context of the world we live in, grows us into deeper skill and discernment of right action.  In this workshop, we’ll explore how this happens.

The Niyamas: New Habits for the Mind
    Sunday 11:30AM-2:00PM
The niyamas are an invitation to cultivate the finer qualities of being for the mind and heart.  They teach the mind and heart to love tranquility and harmony.  They bring out the inner powers of benevolence, fearlessness, and compassion.  It is from here that we are able to act in the world with unstoppable clarity and courage.

    Your Mind on Meditation
    Sunday 3:00-5:30PM
Meditation is not only the heart of the yoga practice, but yogic texts tell us that in dark times like these, meditation is the most powerful practice we can engage to counteract the dark forces within and around us.  Let’s explore why this is true, what is happening to the body, breath, and mind as we meditate, and what is unleashed within us that makes us a different people.

(All workshops include lecture, discussion, gentle practice.)
